Syed Athar Ali Hashmi chief editor of Daily Jasarat passes away

Prominent Pakistani journalist and writer Syed Athar Ali Hashmi editor-in-chief of the daily Jasrat passed away on 6 August 2020.  He was associated with journalism for 44 years, and was also an Urdu teacher. He was the editor-in-chief of Jasrat and also wrote in various newspapers and magazines.

His son Hamad Ali Hashmi is also associated with the journalism department. Athar Hashmi was the elder brother of Maulana Rahat Ali Hashmi, Nazim-e-Talemat and teacher of Hadith at Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi.

He was born in 1946. Educated from Forman Christian College, Lahore and Darul Uloom Karachi.

Athar Hashmi passed away in his sleep on August 6, 2020. After the Zuhur prayers, funeral prayers were offered at Shahbaz Masjid Block 12 Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Burial took place at Sakhi Hassan Cemetery in Karachi.
