June 02, 2020

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Dr. Sanaullah Abbasi has directed the police force personnel to set up an online police training program during COVID-19. It should be noted that this will be the first online training program of its kind in the history of Pakistan Police.

He issued these instructions during an online conference with regional police officers, principals of police training schools and directors of specialized training schools across the province at the Central Police Office, Peshawar on 1st June 2020. The conference considered various ways to provide step-by-step training to police personnel in police training schools during the Coronavirus outbreak. According to the first proposal, police selected for special training will be required to test for corona and those with a negative test will be given safety measures against the coronavirus, under the Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) and the training will be carried out in the class with social distance. According to this method, the instructor giving the lecture in the class will give the lecture to the trainees with the help of mobile app if required. The number of participants, training duration and online training requirements were also reviewed.

The second proposal discussed at the conference was to provide online training to police officers from their homes through a mobile app. In this regard, the problems and difficulties related to mobile service, internet availability, etc. in some places were also reviewed. IGP Dr Sanaullah Abbasi, after much deliberation, decided to provide online mobile training to police force personnel at their homes. The IGP directed the Regional Police Officers to complete their preparations in the light of this decision and to start the online training program for the soldiers as soon as possible after smoothing all the technical steps.

It is worth mentioning here that online mobile training at home is the first program of its kind in the history of Pakistan Police. It should be noted that these service training programs are like blood running in the veins of the police personnel to enhance their capabilities and deal with new challenges in the best possible way. And because of the Corona epidemic, the youth training program was badly affected and it became necessary to continue the training program for the youth within the requirements of the new conditions.
